Job Summary

The Process Design Specialist I is responsible for creating, maintaining, and ensuring the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs), job routings, and item codes for assigned product lines. This role supports manufacturing operations by maintaining accurate product structures and cost data within company systems. Product lines may include Bolts, Spiral Wound Gaskets, Heat Exchanger Gaskets, API products, Specialty Blots and Hoses.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create, set up, and maintain item codes for raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
  • Develop and maintain accurate BOMs and routings to support manufacturing and production planning. 
  • Collect and verify required product information from Sales, Engineering, and other stakeholders (materials, dimensions, drawings, and units of measure).
  •  Assign and maintain part numbers within the appropriate ERP or IT systems.
  • Review and confirm assigned costs with Finance. 
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve cost or routing variances in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain basic product knowledge for assigned product lines. 
  • Communicate effectively with Inside Sales, Accounting, Purchasing, and other departments regarding order or product changes. 
  • Collaborate with peers and escalate issues to supervisors as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic prints, drawings, and specifications. 
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-pased manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to learn, retain, and apply technical information.
  • Proficiency with fractions, decimals, and basic math.
Education 
  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in Business, Math, English, or related field. 
Work Experience 
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or order-processing environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to visually review and process details documentation and system data.
