Manager/Supervisor

Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor will oversee the shipping area and collaborate with operations and logistics management to achieve excellent customer service and on-time delivery.   
 


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in verifying all orders being shipped have the correct address, quantity, specifications, and are up to company quality.
  • Collaborates with production to verify production schedules to estimate shipping requirements.
  • Lead assigned shipping team and confirms all safety requirements, company policies and shipping processes are followed by the team.
  • Assists in managing assigned headcount and works with management to obtain any additional temporary or full-time labor force.
  • Responsible for notifying the proper channels of any departmental safety issues or concerns.
  • Provides suggestions for adjustments in shipping processes, systems, equipment, or procedures for the department.
  • Responsible for managing departmental costs and approving training, equipment and supplies.
  • Motivates assigned team in achieving departmental and organizational KIPs.
  • Manages any employee relation concerns and works with upper management and Human Resources on possible solutions.
  • Maintains accurate records of assignments, projects, deadlines, and shipment times to present to logistics management.
  • Responsible for training, performance reviews and documentation of records of assigned personnel.
  • Assists in required safety and quality audits and inventory review.
  • Holds daily safety meetings with assigned team members.
  • Provides mentorship and training to team leads and creates opportunities for learning and career development.
  • Responsible for providing daily status of shipments for shift changes and updates to production and shipping supervisors on objective achievements.

  • Knowledge in freight, exports, proper freight handling techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to identify and adjust shipping needs as they arise. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and remove root cause.  
  • Ability to collaborate and lead change with various cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Excellent management and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to lead, motivate and drive performance of team in support of department objectives.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Proficient with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or equivalent other supporting systems. 

Education

  • Required: Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, supply Chian or related field.
  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma certification from accredited institution.

Work Experience

  • Required: 7 years of shipping, logistics, or freight experience
  • Required: 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing company with a preference in experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Required: 5 years of leadership experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a manufacturing company that is ISO-9000 or QS-9000 certified.
  • Preferred: Forklift certified.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and climb
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. independently on a regular basis
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the industrial facility.
